Social Media User Guidelines
Thank you for connecting with the California State Fair on social media. Each of our social media channels (“channels”) is intended to be a place where fans like you can gather and share your love for all things California State Fair. In order to make the conversation safe and enjoyable for everyone, we must ask you to follow the rules of the road, which include all applicable terms and conditions imposed by the provider of the social media service (“Providers,” which include, for example, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Google+, Pinterest, YouTube, Flickr, and the provider of any other site hosting one of our channels) as well as the following guidelines. We reserve the right to update and change these guidelines in our sole discretion.
License
The Channel may allow you to post or upload comments, information, links, photos, videos, or other materials (collectively “content”). By posting any content, you grant to California State Fair and those working for it or on its behalf (“we” or “us”) a non-exclusive, non-revocable, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual right to use your content in any manner or media now or later known including, without limitation, the right to reproduce, display, perform, alter, distribute, sublicense, assign and commercialize the content without any obligation to you.
You represent and warrant that you have the legal right to convey or license any content you share on our channels, and that you will indemnify us against any claim by a third party resulting from our use of content that you licensed to us.
Inappropriate Content
We are committed to creating a community that both encourages self-expression and also reflects the California State Fair brand values, including respect for the dignity, rights and property of others.
We ask all State Fair fans to do their part to help us achieve this goal and not post Content that is: abusive, obscene, threatening, defamatory, indecent, or that promotes illegal activity, fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading, in violation of a copyright, trademark or other invasion of privacy or publicity rights, or any other law or regulation, (including viruses or corrupted files), advertising or otherwise commercial in nature, illegal, gruesome, or otherwise objectionable to us.
Channel Management
You acknowledge and agree that we have the absolute right (but not the obligation) to monitor content posted to the channel in our sole discretion. We reserve the right to alter, edit, refuse to post or remove any content, in whole or in part, for any reason or for no reason, including, without limitation, if we believe that the content falls into any of the categories described above – even if you disagree.
Of course, the content posted by fans does not necessarily reflect our views or opinions and we are not in any manner responsible for content nor do we represent or warrant the accuracy of any content.
Keep It Real
All content should come from a real person. We may delete content shared from fake or anonymous profiles, or that promote commercial products or services.
Responses
We enjoy the conversational nature of social media and may respond to content shared in our channels, but we reserve the right to use our judgment in selecting the messages we respond to. We may also elect to post a public response on a channel addressing an issue raised in a private message. We will not respond to personal attacks, foul language, disparaging comments or topics that do not relate directly to California State Fair.
There may be some questions or comments we cannot address, including questions directly related to financial matters, ongoing legal matters, regulatory issues, or certain other elements of our business. If you have a specific customer service question, you may find it more efficient to seek a response directly from the California State Fair Customer Service.
No Endorsement
Our decision to connect with someone on a channel, or to include them in a list or other compilation, is not an endorsement of that person or their account. Likewise, our decision to re-share, “favorite,” “like” or otherwise acknowledge content originally posted by someone else should not be interpreted as an endorsement or verification of the content or the person(s) who posted it.
The posting and presence of content on one of our channels does not necessarily mean that we agree with the content, ensure its accuracy or otherwise approve of it. Nothing in any of our channels constitutes a binding representation, agreement or an endorsement on our part.
Employees
If you are an employee of California State Fair or any other affiliated company or retailer, please review and follow all applicable social media policies issued by your employer.
