Looking for a fun way to connect with your community, get some exercise, fresh air, and sunshine? Cal Expo is looking for volunteers to come get your hands in the soil during the California State Fair Spring and Fall K-6th grade Farm Tours. Enjoy the excitement of teaching K-6th grade students about California’s agriculture for six weeks in April and May and again in September and October When you volunteer at the farm, you earn free admission to the California State Fair with your volunteer hours!! It’s a WIN, WIN!!
We rely on volunteers to guide the children on tours through our Farm showing them a whole new world of California agriculture! As a volunteer, you’ll help teach students about agriculture through interactive stations that include a walking tour through our orchard, seed planting, soil composting with worms, and how a greenhouse works! You will even teach the children about healthy eating habits at our ‘Taste It’ station.
No experience? No problem! We can turn you into a farmer! We will provide onsite training in our amazing outdoor classroom. Our volunteer team supports six weeks of school tours in the Spring & Fall. If you’re at least 18 and can be available for half days Monday through Thursday 8:30 am – 1:30 pm, then you’re a great candidate! It’s an opportunity to gain knowledge, build skills, and make new friends. Contact us at farm@calexpo.com or 916 263-3000.
